The keto diet: “This is a way of eating for the rest of my life”
When Deborah turned 40 she started to put on weight. In late March 2017, she read an article about Low Carb High Fat and found Diet Doctor on the internet. This is what has happened since then:

Hi Andreas,
I have been gradually putting on weight since I turned 40, and at one stage I was 91 kg (200 lbs) (October 2016). I was going to the gym three times a week, and was eating fruit (lots of it) and healthy salads. I was starving hungry constantly. I was on medication for reflux.
In late March 2017, I read an article about Low Carb High Fat and I found Diet Doctor on the internet. I read through the recipes/meal plans and they really appealed to me – I could see myself cooking these meals and enjoying them! It seemed to be relatively straightforward as to what I could and couldn’t eat. The hardest thing to give up was ice cream! I love ice cream… Anyway. I tried the two weeks for free and at the end of that period, I had lost two things: 1 kilo (2 lbs.) and my appetite! I was so happy!
The rest is history, I continue to use the recipes and the whole family have their favourites. Today I weighed myself and I am 77 kilos (170 lbs). My reflux is gone and I feel absolutely fantastic! I have not been to the gym the whole six months and although I am fairly fit, I haven’t gone out of my way to use exercise to lose weight whilst on this way of eating.On a typical day, I will have what I call a bullet proof coffee in the morning; instant coffee with full cream and hot water blended together. For lunch, I will have whatever dinner I have had the night before. An example would be keto hamburger patties with cream tomato sauce and fried cabbage, or keto chili covered salmon (with veg, not spinach).
I don’t really snack. I have a jar of pecans on my desk at work, and sometimes I will have three to five of these either in the morning or the afternoon. I am also eating strawberries because they are really cheap to buy at the moment where I live. I only have about three a day. On the weekends, I tend to cook more expansively such as cooking a roast in the slow cooker with spices/garlic etc. and the meat is useful for the family for their sandwiches during the week, and my lunch without bread (I add veggies).
I would recommend this diet to anyone who wants to gradually lose weight and see results! This is a way of eating for the rest of my life.
