“You’re pre-diabetic” said Suzi’s doctor during an appointment. Having seen her own relatives succumb to the disease, she decided that she needed to do something about it.
She asked her doctor what she could do to reverse the situation, and he answered low carb. This is what happened during the next three months after she decided to follow his advice:
My father died last year. Before he died, his diabetes got out of hand, and he had to have his leg amputated. I was horrified by the situation!
Shortly afterward, I was having a regular checkup with my doctor, and my blood work showed that I was pre-diabetic. I thought of my father’s horrible time before he died. His sister had to have both of her legs amputated due to diabetes. So when my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic, I was downright scared.
“What can I do to prevent diabetes,?” I asked him. His answer was clear and simple.
“Lose weight!” he said.
Well, that was all well and good, but I had spent years trying to lose weight, yet it steadily climbed. “How?!” I asked him.
His answer was as clear and simple as his solution “Low carb,” he told me.
During the next three months I switched to a low-carb diet and lost 30 pounds (14 kg). I had absolutely no trouble sticking to the diet, and when I had my blood work redone, I was no longer pre-diabetic, my blood pressure had dropped so I no longer needed medication, I no longer needed my CPAP machine at night, and my cholesterol had dropped several points as well.
I look and feel so much better, and I know that the low-carb lifestyle is the answer to preventing the disease that caused my father and aunt so much pain and misery. I’ll NEVER go back to a high-carb way of life!
With joy,
Suzi
