This dish was FANTASTIC!! I've been trying new recipes to see what I can make that my whole family will enjoy and this was TOPS!! I used the chicken version this time, but will try beef the next. I forgot to order mushrooms with my grocery order this past week, but I had everything else. It was easy and scrumptious!! Thank you!

Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to let us know.

Thank you so so SO much for putting veg weight in.. a bell pepper can be 40g all the way up to 200! I hope / wish that all recipes have a gram weight .. so when, say, zucchini are used. We know how much in gram rather than doing with what maybe a small carrot sized one or large cucumber!

I was dismayed by how greasy it was and I’ve been eating cheesy casseroles my entire life — tons of Mac and cheese, lasagna, Alfredo etc. which all are pretty high fat. Oh, a loads of lamb and prime rib and I’ve never had the upset tummy I got from this. My hubby also. Being a Calif girl 4th Gen I’ve never been to Philly let alone eaten a Philly Steak sandwich. So I had no idea what to expect. I liked the onions and peppers and the cream cheese. I used shaved beef which was great. I’ll make this again, but leave out the mayo, cut way back or even omit the cheddar, and halve the provolone. Coming into this diet from a standard starchy veggie Paleo WOE, my body is not ready for this much dairy. Even though I’m not intolerant or allergic. It was the sheer amount of dairy fat that did me in. Reaching for the ox bile!

Hi I'm from the Philly area. I grow up here eating cheese steaks and this is not a cheese steak recipe. We do not put bell peppers on are steak sandwiches and mushrooms are an extra only some people like. Cream cheese I've never heard of using at all. I've seen some other states say we put grave on them this is also a misconception. Chicken cheese steaks are good so we are going to try this recipe. I will not judge it as a true chicken/steak sandwich but as an alternative to the real thing.

Made this for supper tonight for me and my husband. I just eyeballed most of the ingredients for what I thought would be good for a two-person recipe. It really did cook down and wasn't as much as I thought it should be, but it filled the two of us up. I definitely will be making this again maybe for a potluck or a family dinner with guests. I will just make sure to use a lot of chicken and veggies so that it is substantial enough. Tonight I served it with spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber with a large dollop of ranch dressing made from the recipe from this site! Delish!!

This is a super easy and super tasty recipe! Even for the non-keto members of the family loved it! For them, you can simply add a hoagie bun to enjoy too if they prefer!

I'm also interested to know the size of the serving portion. Is it like 100g? 120g? It would make it easier then to adapt to our home's preference.

Serving size will depend on how much the dish reduces in volume as you prep the individual ingredients and as the casserole bakes down. The number of servings the dish makes is more accurate than trying to provide a serving size by weight or volume.

Beef mince is ok to use in this one, about 115 grams for one serving.

My partner and I were really excited to try this recipe- expecting something to taste similar to a philly cheesesteak; however, I can honestly say that after a few bites we both felt nauseous from all the cream cheese, mayo, and cheeses. The dairy to meat/veggie ratio doesn't cut the overbearing flavor of the cream cheese at all. Very disappointed.

You mention it makes 12 servings, but if you are only 1 person. I don’t want to cook all that for only one person. That would be a waste of food. Don’t you have a modified recipe?

All of our recipes can be scaled to make fewer or more servings. The default for this recipe is 8 servings. There is a drop down menu above the list of the ingredients. When scaling from 8 to 2 or 12 to 2, sometimes the quantity of ingredients that results can be confusing so you can round up or down to numbers that make sense. You can also portion into individual servings and freeze to enjoy later.

My husband raved over this. I have made 4 this past week switching it up with steak and chicken and rotating veggies. I also only use 1 Tbls Italian seasoning. Great recipe Kristie ,thanks!!

I think everyone from Philly balks at any other recipes. The only thing Philly has going for it is the name Philly Cheesesteak. The rest of Philly is an armpit. This was a fantastic recipe.

I am not sure I would be losing weight by adhering to this regime .
I need to consume 1200 calories per day to reduce my weight .
I am sedentary ,work with a laptop and I would be consuming 1700 calories a day if i follow your plan.
I think i need to reconsider my options.

Hi, Mohan! We don't recommend counting calories. Instead, we recommend keeping carbs very low and focusing on eating to hunger. Here's more info! https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/calories

Tried this tonight. Unable to get provolone cheese so used a mix of tasty, mozzarella & Parmesan. Worked well. My 1 year old grandson came back for seconds. My son & his American wife took some home then rang to say how good it was. Thank you 😊

This was a scrumptious meal. The only change I made was to use canned mushrooms. I think it was the best DD chicken recipe I’ve had so far and next time will make a larger meal for freezing.

Delicious. Made this as Day 1 of Keto with Kristie. It took a long time for me to prepare, but luckily today was a public holiday, so I was rested and started early. I made 4 portions and split between 1 eat now and 3 eat later containers. I can see why this is a DD favourite.
