Dr. Scher recaps three years of Diet Doctor News
Since 2019, Dr. Bret Scher has recorded short videos to explore and explain developments in nutrition research. Over the years, Dr. Scher taped 282 videos, all available on our free YouTube channel, Diet Doctor News.
In these videos, Dr. Scher has focused on issues such as study design, duration, and the cardiovascular risk associated with lower carb eating. Plus, he’s emphasized the advantages of low carb eating for glycemic control, especially for those who have prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Scher said in his final Diet Doctor News video, released today, that his goal with his Diet Doctor news videos has been to try to distill the many different perspectives of nutritional information more deeply, to “put them in a broader context.”

Why the pause in the Diet Doctor News videos?
Dr. Scher is moving from his current role as Diet Doctor’s Medical Director over to our Advisory Board. In addition, he’s taking on a new challenge: leading Metabolic Mind.
Metabolic Mind is an initiative of San Mateo-based Baszucki Group, with the mission to develop resources and build community in metabolic psychiatry. At Metabolic Mind, Dr. Scher will help advance the knowledge and acceptance of low carb and ketogenic diets as a front-line nutritional therapy for mental health conditions.
Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt, founder and CEO of Diet Doctor, said Dr. Scher has been instrumental in establishing low carb and ketogenic diets as a more accepted evidence-based treatment for diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
“Dr. Scher is an incredibly well-respected, experienced clinician who’s helped increase Diet Doctor’s reach, trustworthiness, and credibility among health professionals and the public. He’s helped take the low carb, keto diet from what some were deeming a fad to a legitimate standard of care. Beyond that, it’s been an absolute pleasure for me to work with him over the last four years.”
