    Yes I have definitely diagnosed LADA and have patients who have used low carbohydrate diets to manage it… have one LADA patient who required insulin during a pregnancy prior to low carb diet but now is able to stay off medication as long as she is very careful with diet. Insulin production is low but not so low that she has to use insulin. I do routinely check antibodies in almost all adults with a new diabetes diagnosis, as well as insulin levels (or c-peptide if they are on insulin) because I want to know the following about all my patients with diabetes:

    • do they have insulin RESISTANCE, and if so how much
    • do they have insulin DEFICIENCY, and if so how much
    • do they have an autoimmune component, and is it worsening over time
