Ingredients

  • 3½ oz. 100 g dark chocolate with a minimum of 80% cocoa solids
  • ¼ cup 60 ml butter or coconut oil
  • 1 pinch 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ cup 60 ml peanut butter
  • ½ tsp ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp licorice powder or ground cinnamon or ground cardamom (green)
  • 1½ oz. 45 g salted peanuts, finely chopped or hazelnuts
This recipe has been added to the shopping list.

Instructions

Instructions are for 12 servings. Please modify as needed.

  1. Melt chocolate and butter or coconut oil in the microwave oven or in a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler you can put a glass bowl on top of a pot of steaming water. Make sure that the water doesn't reach the bowl. The chocolate will melt from the heat of the steam. Set the melted chocolate aside to cool for a few minutes before proceeding with the next step.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients except the nuts and blend until incorporated.
  3. Pour the batter into a small greased baking dish lined with parchment paper, no bigger than 4 x 6" (10 x 15 cm).
  4. Top with finely chopped peanuts. Place in the refrigerator to chill.
  5. When the batter is set, cut into small squares with a sharp knife. Remember, keep these and all treats small — no more than a 1x1 inch square. Store in the refrigerator or freezer.

Tip

Almond or hazelnut butter work, too. Feel free to try different toppings: toasted (and coarsely chopped) almonds or hazelnuts, roasted sesame seeds with unsweetened coconut flakes, or even tahini.

I thought these were awful. I'd rather eat a piece of dark chocolate; it's easier and cheaper. But I also find, when I eat sweets that are less than edible, I want to make the real thing. I'm better off not making the recipe at all and having a bite of Hershey's dark chocolate w/no sugar instead. I can eat a mini-chocolate bar and still lose weight, but gain weight when I eat Keto sweets or breads. Go figure.

Weird. Doesn't look like the picture, which looks like a cake. The recipe was a bit vague and I wasn't sure I was doing it right. Went to smooth it out, this wasn't happening. Ended up putting the peanut butter into moulds with the choc on top. The butter remains mushy and soft. Is this supposed to harden as well? Fiddly and disappointing.

Mine definitely was not runny. Was I to pour the chocolate into the peanut butter mix? The recipe dosen't actually say what to do with the chocolate.

Didn’t have the size pan suggested. Used 12 silicone cupcake moulds and poured 20g give or take into each mould and put in fridge. Once set take out of mould and put into a container. Really easy.

Why isn´t there any chocolate recipe on this site that isn´t completely dark chocolate? Although doing keto there are still people who just don´t like this dark stuff. Post some cocoa butter recipes at least.

The number you can eat per day, or per week, and see the progress you want will vary by individual.

I made these chocolate squares and really like them (although they don't look like the photo which seems to show the upper half as dense chocolate and the bottom as a mix of the nut butter and dark chocolate). I used almond butter instead of peanut butter. Chose to use butter not coconut oil as recipe noted you could use one or the other. Added a little cayenne and used some cinnamon but very little of it. Next time more cayenne and sliced almonds for the top instead of peanuts.
Would like to try these with darker chocolate and add Monk Fruit Sweetener with Erythritol for a lower carb count.

When it says blend, does that mean use a blender, or just mix everything together properly?

Either should be fine, as long as all the ingredients are blended together thoroughly.

Love, love this recipe! Talk about a GREAT Christmas present! I've made these twice now and they melt in your mouth and the nuts add that extra yumminess. I used half peanut butter and half mixed nut butter both times, just to get a differentiation of nutrition from the different nuts. While putting the nuts on top looks pretty, the second time I mixed a lot of them down into the batter after putting it in the pan. Still left some on top for aesthetics. I actually prefer it with the nuts mixed in. Both ways are great though! The first time I made it with half butter, half coconut oil. Second time all butter. Both were great. This is a keeper. Doubling the recipe, it lasts a long time in the refrigerator. At the ready for a little treat. Thanks!

Because lighter chocolate has far more sugar than is wise to eat on a keto diet.

They should keep up to a week in the fridge and yes they can be frozen.

I could only find 100% cocoa at the store and these tasted HORRIBLE. Super bitter. We couldn’t eat them.

This is hands down my favorite keto treat! I do half cinnamon and half cardamom and sprinkle a bit of Hawaiian sea salt on top.

    Totally worth it.
In order for it to look as the photo, keep a third of the melter chocolate and butter aside. Mix the rest with he peanut butter mixture and pour first, followed by the third parts of the chocolate mix on the top and top with nuts.
I hope this answers a few questions.

The Diet Doctor recipes are wonderful as they are, but variations can be nice as well.

I make this frequently, I really like it. I keep it simple. Often I just use the microwave to melt everything.
Sometimes I do a 50/50 split of 60% chocolate and 100%. Whatever I happen to have handy.
3½ oz. dark chocolate with a minimum of 80% cocoa solids
    ¼ cup butter
    ¼ cup peanut butter
    ½ tsp vanilla extract
I have a plastic container I have declared is exclusively for this recipe, it is the perfect size and has a nice airtight lid.

added unsweetened coconut flakes and PECANS, the best nut!!

These are super easy to make. Follow the recipe and it makes little chocolate bits that are so morishly yummy. The trick is using a chocolate you like and a peanut butter you like. I use mavers here in Australia - very little sugar and so tasty. Use a crunchy variety for added texture

Not everyone has pecans and unsweetened coconut so just use what you have I love doing that. There is also more protein and vitamins in peanuts. But I used a really good runny peanut butter which wasn’t a good idea. Next time I’ll use some that is a bit thicker. But regardless the where 🤤

These were great! I just did cinnamon for the spice and topped with chopped peanuts and a little flaked sea salt. Instead of cutting, just poured into a silicon mini cupcake tray maybe halfway. Once hard, transferred to a food container and had little treats in the fridge for a week or 2.

I wonder if this would work with macadamia butter - just bought some and not sure what to do with it (other than enjoying a Tablespoon as breakfast)

If the consistency is the same as peanut butter, it should work!

Delicious. Only thing I did different was I used sugar free chocolate chips and melted with plant butter. Yummy.
