Instructions
Hamburger patties and gravy
- Combine all the ingredients for the hamburgers in a large bowl using a wooden spoon or clean hands. Don't over-mix since that can make the patties tough. Use wet hands to form oblong patties.
- Add olive oil or butter to a large frying pan. Fry over medium-high heat for at least 10 minutes or until the patties have browned. Flip them a few times for even cooking.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the tomato paste and cream. Add this mixture to the pan when the patties are almost done. Stir and let simmer for a few minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Butter-fried green cabbage
- Shred the cabbage finely using a food processor or sharp knife.
- Add butter to a large frying pan.
- Place the pan over medium-high heat and sauté the shredded cabbage for at least 15 minutes or until the cabbage is wilted and golden brown around the edges.
- Stir regularly and lower the heat a little towards the end. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Tip!
Switch it up! These patties pair well with any sautéed vegetable… What do you love? Onions, mushrooms, spinach, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, green beans…

Second, to everyone who keeps asking about calories, these recipes do not care about the calories so if you want to know how many calories, figure it out. EVERYWHERE on Keto sites it says quit caring how many calories something has. DO NOT cut the fat....get used to it. THIS is critical in all Keto recipes. If something, like the hamburger, has too much grease for your taste, drain it before you make a sauce. Don't blame the recipe for your personal taste.
Finally, this is not the place to ask questions and expect answers from moderators. This is for us to talk to others, with questions like what changes someone else made to a recipe and to support each other.
I really love these recipes, last time I was on keto, I ended up eating meat and salad every night, just changing the type of meat, and I was SOOOOO bored with it in the end. This time it's going so much better, as my food is more varied and still easy to cook.
We don't want to promote to much "counting" that's why we only have the carbs in gram.
But If you feel that this is important to you then use the formula below to calculate, a bit complicated though. ;-)
(%PROTEIN / %CARB) * gram_CARB = gram_PROTEIN
(%FAT / %CARB) * 4/9 * gram_CARB = gram_FAT
gram_CARB * 4 + gram_PROTEIN*4 + gram_FAT*9 = CALORIES
We have to watch our protein intake as MUCH as carbs.. and I cannot figure out the Macros for any of your dishes..
What a shame.. Diabetic people have it ruff enough.. but then we gotta pull hair out just to get macros per servings... UNREAL
I agree with the others that the directions are not very clear for the burgers. The butter and oil are for frying the burgers, not for mixing into the burgers.
Yes unsweetened carbonated water like club soda is OK.
Something that might be really helpful for you is to use an app called "My Fitness Pal". There, you can create a recipe by copying and pasting the link to this recipe, and it will tell you all the carbs, protein, and things you need to know (including micronutrients like sodium). It is really helpful! I hope this helps and works for you.
- form meatballs instead of patties. Then it will make more sense to let them simmer in the sauce as the recipe says, which will add a lot of flavour.
- when the meatballs are browned, before adding the rest of the sauce ingredients, pour a little vodka/whiskey into the pan and let it cook off (can also use stock).
- instead of tomato paste, use unsweetened tomato sauce (found some in organic/health food aisle).
Made this way, it's one of my favourites!
The creamy tomato sauce was a huge hit in my house. I added salt. I used the sauce with hamburger patties like the recipe states, I just didn’t have those other particular ingredients (like feta) so my hamburgers were just plain meat but regardless, the whole family enjoyed this dish. The sauce could definitely be used for other things as it was quite tasty!
I love the idea of swapping out the cabbage for zucchini noodles.
How does that change the carb count?
Im trying to stay at <20 to lose wight.
How do you figure that out?
thanks
